Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope that all of you are having a wonderful weekend. The upcoming week is the last "normal" week of the 2023-24 school year at Discovery. Beginning May 13th, students will only attend on days when they have a test, review session or if they have a class at NCHS.
Monday - Enrichment
Tuesday - Senior Awards Day
Wednesday - Win at Social in Advisory
Thursday - Family
Friday - Field Day
On Friday, we will run a regular schedule for 1st, 11, 12, 2nd, 21, and 22 periods. Lunch will be 11-11:45 and field day will be 11:45-1:20. Seniors, who attended Shuford Elementary, North Newton Elementary, or South Newton Elementary, will participate in a "Walk of Graduates" at the school they attended.
This upcoming week is also Teacher Appreciation Week. Please make sure each of your teachers know how much you appreciate them.
As the school year comes to a close, make sure that you are finishing strong. Continue to work hard in all of your classes. If there is anything you need, please let us know. Take care.

Good afternoon Discovery Family. I hope that everyone is having an amazing weekend. If you have not had a chance to come out to see our musical Little Shop of Horrors at NCMS, I highly encourage you to join us this afternoon at 2. Ms. Isaac and her cast and crew have done a terrific job. Below are the announcements for this week.
Seniors will be taking a group picture on Tuesday at the beginning of Enrichment. Seniors should refer to the email from Ms. Kellogg for more details.
Friday is an Optional Teacher Workday so students will not be in school this day. However, students who are behind in any of their classes, should use this day to get caught up.
AP testing begins Monday May 6th. Please refer to the following link to see which day each test will be given: https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/exam-administration-ordering-scores/exam-dates. Students are receiving instructions about these tests via emails from Ms. Arditti.
With DHS offering yearlong and semester classes, we are able to begin End of Course tests the last two weeks of school in our yearlong courses. Below is the testing schedule for the last two weeks. The only students who will attend school on these days are the ones who are currently enrolled in courses listed.
May 13th - AP Calculus; AP PreCalculus (AP World History Review
7:40 - 9:40, Math 1 Review 12:05 - 2:50)
May 14th - Math 1 EOC
May 15th - AP World History; AP Computer Sci Principles (Hon. Bio Review
7:40-9:30, AP Bio Review 9:30-11:15)
May 16th - Eng. 2 EOC; AP Biology
May 17th - (Math 3 Review - 7:40-11:15)
May 20th - Biology EOC, AP Lit Teacher Made Exam 7:40
May 21st - Math 3 EOC
May 22nd - Makeup Exams
Graduation is on Thursday May 23rd. We look forward to celebrating our seniors on this date at 7 pm at PE Monroe Auditorium on Lenoir Rhyne University's campus. Parents and seniors should be on the look out for continued information about this from Ms. Kellogg.

Just a reminder that "Little Shop of Horrors" opens TONIGHT!!!!! Discovery High School's Spring Musical: Little Shop of Horrors will be performed at Newton Conover Middle School Auditorium! There will be four performances total! Tickets will cost $10 and can be purchased at the door.

Congratulations to Zach and Dylan for being members of the JV Boys Baseball Team at NCHS who just won the Conference! This is the first time since 1993 that the JV team won conference.

Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope that everyone has had a wonderful weekend. Thanks to everyone who supported our BBQ fundraiser on Friday. We made a little over $5000!! This will go towards supplies for students, teachers and classrooms. Thanks also to those of you who were able to give blood on Thursday. The National Honors Society met their goal which will help many people who are in need of a blood transfusion. Below are the announcements for this week.
On Tuesday, all honors Biology students will be taking a Case 21 assessment during 2nd period. On Wednesday, all year long English 2 students will be taking a Case 21 assessment during 1st period. These two assessments will help Mr. Scronce and Ms. Ward see where their students are before the EOCs.
I encourage everyone to come out and see the Little Shop of Horrors musical on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Ms. Isaac and the students have been working extremely hard preparing for this.
