Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend. I enjoyed seeing many of our students at the Winter Formal last night. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Below are the announcements for this week.
The Newton-Conover School Board is seeking community input on our two calendar options for the 2026–2027 school year. Please note that the form will remain live and collect responses through January 30th. You can access the form here.
Monday & Tuesday - Enrichment, Wednesday - Advisory, Thursday - Family, and Friday - Community.
There will be an ACT prep session on Saturday January 17th 9-11 for any junior wanting extra work to prepare for the ACT. Any junior planning to attend should bring their chromebook. Practice books, paper and calculators will also be provided.
We will be hosting a Blood Drive on Friday January 16th 9-4:30. Appointments are encouraged, please visit oneblood.org/donate-now and use sponsor code 54321.
The Discovery High School yearbook is still on sale for 39.99 plus tax on buytheyearbook.com. This sale will run through April 30th, and afterwards any yearbooks leftover will be sold for $50.00 until we run out. Senior ads are still on sale as well, but in order for these to make the printing of the yearbook, these need to be purchased and completed by February 28th. If you have any questions, please contact Jason Barham at Joel.Barham@n-ccs.org.
Our staff recently decided to implement a new attendance policy that starts this second semester. Information about the policy can be found at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fKhQCxkKLWwKwr52_YZOekEPuAJx0mnG2bgslJ3WEtE/edit?usp=sharing.
