Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope that everyone has had a wonderful weekend. Below are the announcements for this week.
Due to the potential for bad weather this past Friday, we moved our Park Day to this coming Friday September 20th. We will use the permission slip that was already sent home. If you do not want your child to attend this Friday, just let us know.
Some of the Learning Labs have changed so please be sure to check your schedule to see if the location has changed. Along these lines, Ms. Darden's classes will now meet in the lab in the science building instead of the media center.
As the school year is now in full swing, please make note of the Academic Support (aka tutoring) days that our teachers offer after school.
Barham - Monday & Thursday
Crosson - Monday
Kellogg - Most days except if she has an after school meeting; she puts the weekly schedule on her board
Scronce - Wednesday & Thursday
Ward - Thursday & Friday
Our Fall BBQ will be Friday October 11th. More information to come about this.
The following is our Enrichment schedule for the week: Monday & Tuesday - Enrichment, Wednesday - SEL, Thursday - Family, and Friday - Park Day.
Please remember that giving back to others is a big part of who we are at Discovery. Therefore, we have a requirement of 150 hours of Community Service. Students, make sure that you are checking your email regularly because we send out multiple opportunities each week. You should get 50 by the end of your freshmen year, 100 by the end of your sophomore year, and 150 by the end of your junior year. Therefore, you shouldn't have to worry about it at all your senior year unless you're shooting to get 200 so you can have a community service cord for graduation.
Thanks to Ms. Arditti for putting up an ACT Word of the Day up on the Announcement Board at the crosshall. I encourage students to look at this everyday to build your vocabulary.
Students, if you go out the gate next to the science building, please make sure you close it behind you. Safety is a top priority for us.
Ms. Kellogg is offering a parent meeting for all of her math classes on Thursday September 19th at 6:30 in the media center. I encourage all parents to attend this so they have a good understanding of Ms. Kellogg's expectations and how her classes run.
The Character Awards for this week can be found at

I hope that everyone has a terrific week. As always, please reach out if there is anything you need. Take care.

Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope you're have a wonderful weekend. Below are the announcments for the upcoming week.
There is no school on Monday because of the Labor Day holiday.
We will follow our regular schedule beginning on Tuesday. Tuesday will be enrichment, Wednesday will be Advisory, Thursday will be Enrichment, Friday will be Community. Remember that we will also be having Cupcake Day on Friday and we need everyone to bring in cupcakes to make this a wonderful event.
Remember that you should be in class by 7:40 each morning or you are late. Also, please be sure to check your email on a regular basis as important information from staff is sent regularly.
As a reminder of our car rider traffic pattern in the morning and afternoon: cars should turn onto N. Ashe Ave from West 15th street, turn right on West 18th street and then make an immediate right into the circle drive at the front office. Drop or pick up your student at the front office area and then exit the circle by turning left onto West 18th street.
I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend. As always, reach out if there is anything you need. Take care.

Good afternoon Discovery Family. I hope that everyone has had a wonderful summer and is excited about the start of the 2024-25 school year. This is going to be an amazing year, but remember that you will only get out of it, what you put into it. Below are the announcements for this week.
The following are the drop off and pick up procedures for car riders: You will turn onto N. Ashe Ave from West 15th St, then turn right onto West 18th St and make an immediate right into the circle drive. Students will be dropped off and picked up at the top of the circle drive. Parents should then turn left out of the circle drive and make a right at the stop sign at the bottom of the hill to leave campus.
For returning in district bus riders, your pick off and drop off point should be the same as last year. However, you should plan to be at your stop 10-15 minutes earlier than last year until routes are finalized. For in district freshmen students, you should be at your stop by 6:15 and then your driver will be able to tell you what time it will be on a regular basis.
All students should enter the building through the gym entrance which will be open at 7:10 each morning. Students will then report to the gym or the cafeteria until 7:30 at which time they will go to Advisory on Monday. All students are able to receive free breakfast each morning. Breakfast will run 7:10-7:40.
