We are very fortunate to have a therapist on our campus four days a week. Her name is Tiffany Fansler and she has been a tremendous help for our students thus far this year. Please read her attached biography and if you feel that your student would benefit from her services, please reach out to Ms. Arditti.

Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope you're doing well and enjoying the fall weather. Below are the announcements for this week. We made two trips to Boone last week to deliver needed supplies. Please continue making donations if you're able. Below is a list of needed items at this time. Laundry Detergent Batteries Shovels Work Gloves Diaper Paste Fans Gift cards and cash that the social worker can use to purchase specific items for those who have been displaced On Monday, there will be make up pictures for underclassmen and seniors in the gym starting at 8. Also on Monday, a representative from the ASU Hickory campus will be at DHS at 10:30 during enrichment. On Tuesday there is a Lunch & Learn for seniors and their parents at 11:15 and on Wednesday there is a Lunch & Learn for juniors and their parents at 11:15. I hope that both groups of parents are able to join us those days. Monday is Enrichment, Tuesday is Advisory, Wednesday is Family, and Thursday is Community. There is no school on Friday due to a teacher workday. However, we have rescheduled our campus cleanup for Friday 9-11. Please refer to the email sent by Mr. Whitener last week to sign up if you plan to attend. From our CVCC rep Ms. Williams: Hey Class of 2026! If you are interested in adding extra CVCC CCP classes for Spring 2025, the time is NOW. You have a few options of extra Math classes, an extra Humanities class, Foreign Language, or add a CTE Pathway that may also contain classes that are college transfer. If you are not sure, sign up and we can discuss your options! Please scan the new QR code on the CVCC CCP flyer posted in the DHS hallway, in the office, or outside my office door, and request a meeting ASAP! I plan to submit my requests for seats on October 21, 2024. *Note: You must have paid your $40 Fall Activity Fee before I can request any seats for Spring '25 or register you for your Spring '25 Summit classes (ENG-232, HIS-13, ACA-122).) I have sent several reminders with links to my.cvcc.edu>Self-Service where you can pay online. I also will take your $40 cash payment over to CVCC for you if you want to pay that way. I look forward to meeting with you soon! Our character awards for the week can be found at: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gTkInwdBCVITRUXhLzm3Tmu3z2mmxb9T/view?usp=sharing I hope that everyone has a wonderful week!
