Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend. Please find the weekly announcements below.

Thursday November 11th is Veteran's Day. Therefore there will be no school for students or staff. Please be sure to thank a Veteran for their service for our country.

On Saturday November 13th, the Newton-Conover Education Foundation will be sponsoring a golf tournament to raise money for the district's Kids In Need fund. Here is a flyer for the event if anyone is interested in participating.

Last night, Daylight Savings time ended. If you've not already done so, please be sure to set your clocks back 1 hour.

During the week of November 15th, students enrolled in Math 1, Math 3, or English 2 for the 1st Semester will be participating in our Case 21 Assessments. These assessments will help teachers determine what skills they need to focus on over the last several weeks before these students take their EOC test.

Please be sure to notify the school if your student is out sick. We want to make sure the school environment is as safe as possible as we still navigate the COVID pandemic.

Students will be receiving new chromebooks on Monday November 22nd. In order for students to get their new chromebook, they will need to make sure to have their old chromebook and charger to turn in on this day. If a student has lost their charger, they will need to be sure to pay for it before this date.

The Guardian Ad Litem program is collecting plastic jars of peanut butter and jelly to help feed families in Catawba County. DHS is collecting jars to donate to the program through mid-January. If you would like to donate, please bring as many plastic jars of peanut butter and/or jelly as you would like. There will be a box for the donations in the cross hall near Mr. Wilson's room.

Here are this week's Character Awards.

Have a great week and let us know if there is anything you need.
