Good afternoon Discovery Family. I hope that everyone has had a terrific summer and are excited about the start of the 2021-2022 school year. Below are some important pieces of information for the upcoming week.
First, our school board has voted to make masks optional for students and staff. However, any student or staff on a school or activity bus is required to wear a mask while on the bus.
Second, car riders should be dropped off on 18th street at the top of the hill at the brick Discovery High School sign. Car riders will then enter the building at the gym and either go to the gym or cafeteria until students are dismissed at 7:30 to go to first period. Students, who drive, have to have paid for a parking pass to park in the upper lot at the gym entrance. All other student drivers should park on Ashe Ave. between the DHS campus and the NCHS football and baseball fields. The parking spots facing the DHS campus are the only ones that should be used. The parallel spots next to the football and baseball fields should not be used. Overflow parking will be the new parking lot across the street from NCHS.
All students will once again receive free breakfast and lunch. However, we ask that all parents complete the free and reduced lunch forms if you haven't already done so because this is one of the ways the district receives funding.
