Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Below are the announcements for this week.
Tomorrow is our Park Day. Please be sure to refer to the schedule that was sent out via email earlier today. Remember that you cannot go if you have not turned in a permission slip. If you have lost your permission slip, please have your parent email your Advisory teacher and/or Mr. Whitener.
Also on tomorrow, we will have Underclassmen Make Up pictures. There is only a handful of students that will need to have these done if they were not here for the original date.
Parents, I encourage all of you to get the Parent Portal app for your cell phone. This will help you keep up with your student(s) grades and attendance. If you have any questions about how to set this up, please contact Ms. Sigmon in the front office.
There have been several questions/concerns recently about our new attendance policy. Students, there is a difference between being sick and not feeling well. By all means, if you are sick, you need to stay home. Symptoms of being sick include but are not limited to having a fever and vomiting. However, if it's a situation that you just aren't feeling well, you need to make every effort to be in school.
On Tuesday October 18th, the North Carolina School of Science and Math will be here to meet with our Sophomores. Also on the 18th, the Catawba Science Center will be in the cafeteria during lunches to discuss different opportunities they have for our students if you're interested.
There will be a teacher workday on Friday October 21st which means there is no school for students on this date.
