Beta Club Welcomes New Members

Story by Clancy Maier

“With the belief in promoting exemplary student effort and achievement, nurturing the values of service and leadership in our society’s future citizens, the governing body of the National Honorary Beta Club was established.” -National Beta Club Constitutional Preamble

Since its founding in 1934, the Beta Club has been an exemplary organization, dedicated to preparing students for the future. And last Thursday, 3/12/26, the Beta Club welcomed a plethora of new, excited, and eager members. Every year, Discovery High School inducts a large group of students, often Sophomores, into the National Beta Club. “I think Beta Club encompasses amazing students. Students who are focused on academics, character, and service,” said Mrs. Arditti, who, along with Mrs. Greenwald, runs the Beta Club chapter at Discovery.

Beta Club has a significant impact on students and on the community. The Beta Club at Discovery helps the community several times a year, and several new members have already begun participating in community service before being officially inducted. Members rang bells at Walmart to help raise funds for the Salvation Army, sold roses during Valentine’s to raise money for our school and encourage positive relationships, and last Friday, new and old members alike went to Rising Hope Farms to volunteer. “Helping with Beta Club has made me feel really hopeful, especially when we volunteered with the Salvation Army. That experience showed me that a little truly does go a long way, especially if it puts a smile on someone’s face,” said Abena Asantewaa Asante-Antwi, who was inducted last Thursday.

New members are teeming with excitement about this opportunity, like Zoe Crosson. “I think I will connect to the students on another level, and I will have a lot of good service opportunities,” stated Crosson. This is an exceptional club that exceptional people are a part of. Students are excited and ready for the volunteer opportunities that Beta Club provides, and Beta Club is excited to welcome them.
