DHS Hosts Winter Formal

Story by Robert Kiser

The annual Discovery High School Winter Formal has passed and it can’t be described as anything less than a major success, a success that has resulted in overwhelmingly positive feelings from the students and staff that attended.

“While we don’t always have a lot of students dancing, it’s nice to see lots of people from Discovery,” stated junior Anthony Giometti  “At least they are having a good time, and that’s something good to see,” he continued.

The dance had a popular photo booth, food accommodations and decorations that received extremely high praise for quality.

“My favorite part was when they played the song I requested and I actually got to dance to it. Or when everyone got together for the group dances,” stated sophomore Daeton Jones.

Out of 25 students surveyed, every single one agreed the dance was a huge hit.

Despite the overwhelming positive response, organizers are already looking for ways to make next year even better. Teacher Mrs. Andrea Ward suggested that the music selection is the key to boosting the energy on the floor: “A way to improve the formal would be to create a playlist of songs all the students would enjoy. That way we can have more student engagement,” she noted.

The smooth execution of the night was the result of weeks of preparation by student volunteers and staff. From transforming the gym to coordinating the food, the attention to detail did not go unnoticed by the students. This collaborative effort has set a high bar for future dances.

The Dance overall was still a critical success that was a huge positive for the school, and students can look out for winter formal 2027.
