DHS Juniors Tour UNC Charlotte
Story by Colson Whitely
The junior class visited UNC Charlotte on October 20th. UNC Charlotte is the third-largest university in the University of North Carolina system. It’s home to the largest computer science college in North Carolina and one of only a few dedicated Colleges of Computing and Informatics in the nation.
“I really liked the campus,” said junior Kaitlyn Yang. “it is still an amazing college, and they also offer a lot of different majors.”
The Main Campus spans nearly 1,000 acres of rolling, wooded land. It feels like its own large community, as no major city roads cut through the main parts of the campus. It has a beautiful, green setting with numerous trees, open quads, and man-made lakes.
“The UNC Charlotte trip is important because some kids at Discovery have never toured a college campus before, and this trip gives them that opportunity,” explained guidance counselor Elizabeth Arditti.
The UNC Charlotte campus provides students with the best of both worlds: a spacious, traditional, and green campus environment for focused study and living, complemented by a sleek, modern, urban facility for direct engagement with a major U.S. city.
