Story by Colson Whitley
Kellie Medley, the new therapist at Discovery, is excited to start the 2025-2026 school year and help people who may be struggling with their mental health. Medley says she “hopes to bring trust, longevity, commitment, dedication, consistency, comfort, and stability.”
Medley sums herself up in three words: “loyal, courageous, and authentic.” She has helped so many people through mental health counseling, whether it be at Kintegra Health, Solutions of Hickory, or now Discovery High School; she has proven herself to be an amazing therapist.
The message she gives to all high school students, not just those at Discovery, is that “You can’t drive your car and look in the rearview mirror.” She explains that you need to address your past traumas; however, you cannot let them define you. Outside of mental health therapy, she also has an art business where she does everything from painting welcome signs for people’s houses to creating stickers for water bottles.
Ms. Kellie is such an amazing therapist inside and outside of Discovery High School, and we are so grateful to have her here as the person to help with all of the students’ mental health.
