Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend thus far. Below are the announcements for this week.

Remember to set your clocks back 1 hour tonight as Daylight Savings Time ends.

Biology students will have their NC Check In on Thursday.

There will be no school on Friday as we observe the Veterans' Day holiday. Remember to thank a veteran for all the sacrifices they have made to ensure our safety and freedom.

Our Annual Thanksgiving Feast will be on Friday November 18th.

There have been several questions about our new attendance policy. First and foremost, if a student is sick (running a fever, vomiting, etc), that student should stay home. However, as I shared during Community on Friday, there is a difference between being sick and not feeling well. If a student is simply not feeling well, that student should come to school. This new policy is not meant to punish students, but to prepare them for the real world.

As a reminder, Summit students still need to be in their regular classrooms on Fridays even though they do not have class. This is the only way we can ensure the safety of all students. Summit students should not be roaming the building on Fridays.

We have several events going on at the school currently. Please refer to our website for information on our Coat Drive, our Peanut Butter and Jelly Campaign, and the Kids In Need Golf Tournament.

Here are the Character Awards for the week.

I hope that everyone has a terrific rest of the weekend and a wonderful week ahead. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or need anything. Take care.
