Weekly Announcements for January 25th

Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope that you all have had a good week. Please see below for this week's announcements.

I had the pleasure of meeting with each grade level today for about 30 minutes each. We discussed habits and things they could do to help themselves be successful in school and in life. I encourage you to talk with them about the things that were discussed. Students who did not attend the meetings have had the recording from the meeting shared with them along with an assignment that they need to complete that goes along with it.

On Tuesday January 26th, students, who signed up, will be taking the PSAT.

We are currently in our recruitment process for new students for the upcoming school year. Please encourage anyone you may know, who is currently in the 8th grade, to apply to come to school at Discovery for the 2021-22 school year. Application information can be found on our website.

2020 DHS graduate, Mayson Archer, is currently battling cancer for the second time in two years. Geppeto's of Newton is sponsoring a fundraiser for him and his family on Wednesday February 3rd 4-9 pm. Please consider eating at Geppeto's on this date to support this worthy cause.

I need more talent videos. All of you are talented in one way or another. Please send me a video of your talent so that we can share with the school.

Weekly Announcements for January 11th

Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope that you've all had a terrific first week of second semester. It was good getting to see many of you this week. Below are the announcements for this week.

Breakfast and lunch are still available free of charge for all students throughout the rest of the school year. Please take advantage of this opportunity that our cafeteria is providing.

All juniors will be taking the CCRA (practice ACT) test on Friday January 15th. All juniors should plan to be on campus by 7:40 and should enter the building at the entrance closest to the gym like they normally do. To ensure that proper social distancing is provided, we will be splitting you up in multiple classrooms for this test. In order to prepare for this, juniors should practice in either Albert or the website academy.act.org. If you have not already picked up your scores from the first CCRA test, you may pick them up in the front office.

One of the special things that we would normally do in Community is present Character Awards. Staff have been doing this throughout the first semester, but we would like to include students in this for second semester. Students should complete the google form sent to their email if they would like to recognize any student or staff member for a character award.

I hope you all have a terrific weekend. Take care and let us know if there's anything you need.
