Theatre Dept. to Perform "Our Place"

On Thursday, October 18th at 7:00 PM in the Newton-Conover Auditorium, the students of Discovery High School will perform their Fall production, Our Place, written by Terry Gabbard. The production will also be performed at the North Carolina Theatre Conference at Kings Mountain High School on Friday, October 26th. Affectionately referred to as the "State Football Championships of Theatre," NCTC allows high school theatre students across the state to perform at eight regional sites where two plays from each site are selected to perform at the NCTC State High School Play Festival. The top two plays from the State Festival then go on to national level. The play is a series of short scenes that take place on the same pier on a lake and the various group of strangers that refer to this secluded spot as "our place." You will laugh and cry at this poignant story. Tickets for the event are $5.00 for general admission and $3.00 for NCCS students and staff. Admission is free at NCTC. For more information, email the theatre director, Mr. David Bozza at More information about NCTC can be found on their website at
