The Green Room Community Theatre is pleased to announce the winners for the 2019 New Playwright's Festival. During a short ceremony at the theatre, this year's winners each received their prize and met with the directors of their plays. Anna Sigmon won in the 3rd-5th grade division with her play,#Softball4Life. It is a sweet story of how softball helped to heal a hurting daughter and her father.

Grandma's in the Mafia, written by Fiona Finch, won for the 6th-9th grade division. After the passing of their grandmother, Paul and Maisie uncover some interesting information.

Our 10th-12th grade winner, Jakob Brownfield, wrote a thought-provoking play titled, Troubles on Mount Olympus, involving the Greek gods of mythology and their response to mankind's treatment of the planet.

On May 24th at 7:30pm, each play will be presented during An Evening of One Acts at The Green Room Community Theatre. Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased online at thegreenroomtheatre.org or by calling the box office at 828-464-6128 Wednesdays – Fridays from 10:00am until 5:30pm.
