Spotlight on DHS Graduates - Joseph Inscoe

Joseph is a 2019 graduate from Discovery. Following graduation, Joseph attended Appalachian State University. He has transferred to UNC Chapel Hill where he is studying Political Science. His favorite DHS memory is every Thursday because that was when Family took place.

Weekly Announcements November 23rd

Good afternoon Discovery family. I hope that everyone has enjoyed their weekend. Below are the announcements for this week.

Monday November 23rd is an A Day and Tuesday November 24th is a B Day. There is no school for students or staff Wednesday November 25th through Sunday November 29th.

Biology, English 2, Math 1, and Math 3 students will be taking their Case 21 assessments during class on Monday and Tuesday. Remote students will be allowed to take these from home like last time.

The Newton-Conover City Schools Board of Education voted on Monday to eliminate teacher made final exams for this school year. Therefore, classes with teacher made final exams will have Quarter 1 count 50% and Quarter 2 count 50% of their grade for 1st Semester. The same will be true for 2nd semester with Quarter 3 counting 50% and Quarter 4 counting 50% of that grade.

Spotlight on DHS Graduates - Morgan Davis

Morgan is a 2017 graduate from Discovery High School. She is currently attending Catawba Valley Community College to obtain an associates degree in engineering. She, currently, is working as a front end associate at Walmart while attending college. She's a cashier and a self checkout host. She is there to help provide customer service and help people checkout their groceries smoothly and fast. When asked about her favorite memory at DHS, she says " My favorite memory would be going to family. We could have parties, eat food, watch movies, and socialize."

Spotlight on DHS Graduates - Anna Wike

Anna is a 2019 graduate from Discovery High School. She is currently enrolled at Lenoir Rhyne University and is majoring in Criminal Justice and Sociology. Anna is also working part time at the Dairy Center in Newton. She says her favorite memories of DHS are park days.

Spotlight on DHS Graduates - Ethan Branton

Ethan is a 2017 graduate from Discovery High School. Following graduation, Ethan joined the Marines and has been serving for the past 3 years. What does Ethan say is his favorite memory of DHS? "Graduation. It was very bittersweet but seeing the culmination of our 4 years at Discovery coming to an end and being celebrated like that is something that I have always been grateful for and even at the time you could definitely feel that everyone knew it was the kind of experience that you only get one of. Which made it all that more special." Ethan is the person in the center of the picture.

Spotlight on DHS Graduates - Ashlyn Helms

Ashlyn is a 2012 graduate from Discovery High School. After graduation, she went straight into the workforce. Currently she works at Rock Barn Country Club Spa as a concierge in the cafe preparing food & she is a medtech at an assisted living facility (Brookdale Hickory NE) where she administers medications, insulin, first aid etc. When asked about her favorite DHS memory, she says "My favorite memory of DHS, or (NCHSHS) as I knew it, was definitely families and the “talent show” we had. I also really loved Mr. Willard."
